Everyone knows what a trifecta is in horse racing. For those who don't, it's win you properly pick the win, place and show. Did you know there is a NFL trifecta?
The NFL trifecta occurs when a player throws a touchdown pass, runs for a touchdown and receives a touchdown. Since the NFL started in 1992 only six players have achieved the NFL trifecta of throwing, catching and rushing for a touchdown.
The six players who have thrown, caught and rushed for a touchdown are:
- LaDainian Tomlinson - Thomlinson achieved his record on October 16, 2005 against the Oakland Raiders.
- Walter Payton - Payton did it on October 21, 1979.
- John Henry Johnson - Johnson set his record for the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Philadelphia Eagles on December 11, 1960.
- Keith Lincoln - Lincoln played for the San Diego Chargers in 1965 when he tied the record.
- Dan Reeves - Reeves accomplished this in 1967 for the Dallas Cowboys.
- Harmon Wages - Wages was the second to do it in 1968 for the Atlanta Falcons.
