Ryan Plackemeier was a soccer player all his life until an assistant Wake Forest football coach saw him kicking a soccer ball to the ceiling of the gym during a pick up game. Since that point Ryan Plackemeier has made a name for himself in the NCAA football world. Ryan Plackemeier holds the record for average punt yardage in career yardage. Plackemeier's career average is 44.91, and he's averaged 46.4 yards this season. Early this year he kicked a record 82 yard punt. The record punter's statistics:
Since Plackemeier is deeply religious, he doesn't see his only option playing in the NFL. His teammates love his ability. Chris Barclay, tailback, explains: He wins games for us. Our coaches always tell us, if there's a chance we might have a turnover, if we're fighting for that extra yard but we might fumble, just fall down. We've got the best punter in the nation on the sidelines. It looks like whatever direction Plackemeier takes he's going to be a success. |
