Chris Chambliss of the New York Yankees hit a ninth inning home run in Game 5 of the 1976 American League Championship Series, giving the Yanks a 7-6 victory over Kansas City and their first pennant in 12 years.

George Brett, the Royals' third baseman, hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning off Grant Jackson tied the score, 6-6. Mark Littell was the relief pitcher off whom Chambliss homered.
