Halfback Dick Christy completed his North Carolina State career in storybook fashion on November 23, 1957, scoring all of his team's points in a 29-26 triumph over South Carolina that wrapped up the Atlantic Coast Conference championship for the Wolfpack. The ending to the game, played in Columbia, S.C., proved particularly dramatic as Christy, with time having expired and the score tied, attempted his first varsity field goal on his last play as a collegian. The result? Christy was on target with a 36-yard boot. Christy had scored earlier on a two-yard run and on three one-yard bursts and had made conversion kicks after two of the touchdowns. |
