Mississippi's A.L. (Showboat) Boykin showed off his scoring talents on December 1, 1951, setting a major-college record by making seven touchdowns in one game as the Rebels walloped Mississippi State, 49-7, in Starkville, Miss.

Boykin scored on runs covering 85, 21, 14, 12, 14, 1 and 5 yards and rushed for 187 yards overall on 14 carries (a 13.4 average per attempt). Jimmy Lear. Ole Miss was quarterback and accounted for the rest of the Rebels' points, hitting on all seven conversion-kick tries.
