Playing against the Philadelphia Athletics on May 24, 1936, at Shibe Park, Tony Lazzeri of the New York Yankees became the first major leaguer to hit two bases-loaded homers in one game.

The homers helped Lazzeri drive in an American League-record 11 runs in the Yankees' 25-2 victory. Lazzeri also tripled in five official at-bats.
