Who holds the most saves in baseball

Getting a save in baseball is tough work. You're brought into the game in the ninth inning with a small lead. It's your job to "save" the game for your team. To do that you need to make sure the other team doesn't score enough runs to tie or beat your team.

Trevor Hoffman has played enough baseball to know how the game works. He's the saves leader in baseball, and he recently saved his 500th game. This is an amazing statistic considering he has won all but two for one team, the San Diego Padres.

As he said after the occassion cocnerning his start in San Diego:

You don't forget certain things that churn your stomach pretty good and make you think, 'What's it going to take to be successful in this game?' Those are the kind of learning curves you go through that make you stronger.

Trevor isn't ready to give it up, though. He said:

When I start getting knocked around pretty good and can't get people out, it's going to be an indication to me that they are making adjustments really fast or that the writing is on the wall.
